The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
