The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
