The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
