The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
