The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and serried acacias, 29 and extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
