The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
