The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
