A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 and many from the later generations. 40 The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 You have certainly known the first creation. Why, then, do you not take heed? 62 Tell Me! The seed that you sow in the ground. 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 (And say:) "We have fallen into debt; 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire which you strike? 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Extol, then, the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's mighty name! 74
