Al-Najm 3 of 3
Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 He plunged the villages 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
