Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in an exalted garden 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
