Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 And not known my account! 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 nor any food save the filth 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
