Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 in a lofty Garden 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
