Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 in a lofty garden, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 And not known my account! 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
