The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
