Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In a Garden on high, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 and no food except pus 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
