Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In a lofty garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
