Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 Worship Allah, and fear Him, and obey me. 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 He said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islamic Monotheism). 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 "Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud); 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 and has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 18 God has spread out the earth 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
