Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 “That you must worship Allah and fear Him, and obey me.” 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 But the more I called, they only ran the farther away. 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 "'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, 15 and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp, 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
