Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment." 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 Worship Allah, fear Him, and obey me. 3 He will forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term. When the term of Allah arrives it cannot be deferred; if you but knew' 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 And lo! I have called unto them aloud, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 And I told them: 'Ask your Lord to forgive you. He is verily forgiving. 10 ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ 11 "'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 and [then] He will bring you forth [from It] in resurrection. 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 That ye may thread the valley-ways thereof. 20
