Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 “He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will shower upon you torrents from heaven, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? 13 when He has created you in stages? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow, 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
