Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God's term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know."' 4 He said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islamic Monotheism). 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 I called to them clearly, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ 10 'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 "'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). 12 strengthen you by (providing) you wealth and children, and make gardens and streams for you. What is the matter with you that you are not afraid of the greatness of God 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 ‘And in them, has illuminated the moon, and made the sun a lamp?’ 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. 17 ‘And He will then take you back to it, and again remove you from it.” 18 And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20
