Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19
