Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 Leave Me to those who cry lies, those prosperous ones, and respite them a little, 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
