20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 keep vigil the night, except a little 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 Indeed this is nothing but a Good Counsel; so let him who will take a way leading to his Lord. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
