The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and defilement flee! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked round; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
