The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 arise, and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 thy robes purify 4 And all defilement shun! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
