The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
