Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 From the guilty. 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
