By no means! By the moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to mortal man 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
