NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 Warn the men. 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 running away from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
