Nay, and by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning for people -- 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 who will be in Paradise 40 About the criminals, 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 we fed not the needy, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
