Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Even if he presents his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
