Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon darkens 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
