Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
