The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
