The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
