The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
