In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds sent forth with beneficence. 1 And the winds that blow violently 2 and the rain-spreading winds, 3 Then separate them one from another, 4 by those who bring down the reminder, 5 To complete the argument or to warn. 6 that which you have been promised shall be fulfilled. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 And what do you know, what the Day of Decision is! 14 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 15 Did We not destroy the earlier peoples? 16 So shall We make later generations to follow them. 17 Thus do We deal with the guilty. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from a liquid disdained? 20 Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), 21 for an appointed time? 22 We then calculated; so how excellently do We control! 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Have We not made the earth a housing 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? 27 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 28 Proceed to that (the Day of Judgment) which you have rejected. 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 it throws spits as (high as a huge) palace, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. 35 nor will they be allowed to proffer excuses. 36 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 37 'This is the Day of Decision; We have joined you with the ancients; 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 40
