In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By (the wind) those sent (as horses') mane (in succession), 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 excusing or warning, 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 So when the lights of the stars are put out. 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 and when the mountains are scattered like dust, 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 to what day shall they be delayed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! - 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 And We shall let them be followed by those of later times: 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 And such fruits as they desire. 19 Have We not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?- 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 Till a limit known? 22 Thus have We determined [the nature of man's creation]: and excellent indeed is Our power to determine [what is to be]! 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 for the living and the dead? 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 Walk on to that which you called a lie. 29 Depart to a triple-massing shadow 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, 32 As though they were camels yellow tawny. 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it), 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 The mountains reduced to dust and blown away, 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
