The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
