The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
