The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
