The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
