The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
