The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a fitting requital, 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
