The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
