The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
