The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
