The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
