The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
